Is anyone else into the Great British Baking Show? I know I'm a little late to the party on this one but we've been watching it all weekend and I totally get the fanaticism.
Obviously jello molding isn't baking but it requires an equal measure of precision! Apparently gelatin has made an appearance on the Charlotte russe episode:
They use the clear sheets of gelatin that any British baker can buy at any Waitrose, like the ones most pastry chefs use on this side of the pond. But American home bakers find on the grocery shelf only powdered gelatin, which is harder to control and doesn’t always thicken with translucence. We must be change agents! Gelatin sheets should be widely available! We need to send a message to store managers — even if it takes throwing packets of Knox Unflavored into Boston Harbor.
I need a properly fancy occasion to try this out.
