Yesterday was a truly great day. My partner took the day off from work (we spend a lot of time together in and out of our 400 square foot apartment and keep marveling at how we aren't sick of each other yet) and we explored Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.
One of my favorite (unapologetically old-lady) things to do is visit botanical gardens and the San Francisco Botanical Garden was pretty delightful. I can barely (more like rarely) keep houseplants alive but I do love a good garden.
Next stop was the de Young which I'd been to once before years ago but was just as good as I remembered it. Bear with me here as I get a little woo-woo but art seriously feeds my soul. I love the calm of museums and I spend as much time reading the descriptions as I do looking at the art. I think understanding the context of a piece enriches the experience of it. I'm always energized and inspired when I leave. Even (or maybe especially) by the stuff that makes me go "huh?"
And finally, an amazing dinner with Paige and her husband at Petit Crenn. Dominique Crenn was featured on Chef's Table this season and we were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of her on our way out the door.
